- Contribute to the University's “Butler Beyond” strategy and the Division of Student Affairs’ strategic plan by creating and then implementing engagement opportunities that focus on new student engagement and well-beingAssist in the overall coordination of new student Orientation activities with direct oversight of specific elements of the programming. Orientation activities include the selection and training of student leaders; planning large-scale programs; support the coordination of pre-orientation programs; delivery of online, educational resources; and the promotion of Orientation and its components to various constituenciesCoordinate January new student OrientationCollaborate with campus partners to develop and coordinate new student engagement opportunities throughout the year Assist in the coordination of family engagement through opportunities such as Orientation, Family Weekend, Family Council and virtual offerings throughout the yearContribute to a highly engaged Butler student experience and vibrant campus culture by living-on campus and supporting student life efforts. Expectations include participation in a shared Campus Activities on-call rotation (please note, this is not part of Residence Life on-call duty); collaboration with colleagues to support programs and initiatives that engage students in meaningful ways; being present for co-curricular programs; and supporting student trips, retreats and other departmental sponsored initiativesCollaboratively manage website, social media and other external facing resourcesOther duties as assigned
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusionDemonstrated commitment to the growth and development of studentsUnderstanding of college student development theory and its application to new student orientation, transition, and retentionExperience in event planning processes and comprehensive understanding of best practices as related to programming including risk mitigation, and contract processes Experience advising college students and groupsCommand of technology including student learning platforms, social media and other online tools.
