Position Summary:

The IT Manager helps lead the client services and system administration functions for F&A IT Support. Client services provide technology support for staff, consultants, and auditors throughout the Finance Division, Finance & Administration. Client support includes all aspects of desktop support and management including, but not limited to, hardware, software, deployment, networking, security, and peripheral support (printers, multi-function copiers, and smartphones). Client support also includes support on various software applications such as Microsoft Office, Professional Education Portal (PEP), Campus Receivables Collector (CRC)\Perkins Loan, Alertus, EdExpress, UiPath, RFGen, Projecto, Kofax, etc. System administration functions include the provisioning of servers, both physical and virtual, maintaining system operations during business hours, performing system maintenance after business hours, troubleshooting system issues, maintaining an adequate security posture, monitoring the consumption of resources (e.g., storage space), and planning for capacity needs. This position provides technical leadership and support IT staff in F&A IT and consults on changes and projects.
This position utilizes excellent interpersonal, technical, and organizational skills as well as familiarity with UGA IT policies and resources. This position is expected to have advanced experience with server virtualization (Microsoft Hyper-V technology), iSCSI storage (Nimble Storage), Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Systems Center, networking, security, and desktop management. The position incumbent is expected to be available outside of normal business hours to support F&A operations and projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Oversee, manage, and provide guidance in planning strategic direction for all servers and network services, which includes support to the Finance Division, Office of Emergency Preparedness, Office of University Architects, and Office of the VP for Finance & Administration.
- Provide technical leadership for services such as Group Policy, Active Directory, virtualization, security, software deployment, Hyper-V, database administration, etc.
- Oversee, participate in and lead complex IT projects.
- Develop and implement standards, guidelines, and policies for IT Support in collaboration with team members and in alignment with F&A.
- Act as the IT liaison for F&A units, working closely with functional managers on issue resolution, communication, and teamwork.
- Identify areas of concern and recommend staffing changes when needed in order to meet IT challenges.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Champion the Help Desk software adoption through the organization and routinely audit the system for data integrity.
- Collect, analyze, and disseminate IT resource metrics.
- Engage in data gathering and reporting for various systems and processes, such as SCCM, TeamDynamix, and Operating System patches.
- Ensure compliance with UGA policies, internal standards, and best practices. Identify any areas of concern and consult with the supervisor as needed.
- Develop, modify, and review systems and process documentation for IT staff and clients.

- Act as the primary vendor liaison for several systems, including Nimble Storage, Projecto, Alertus, RFGen, CRC, EdExpress, and Kofax.
- Gather quotes from vendors and initiate purchases for IT systems.
- Participate in staff hiring process within F&A IT.
- Represent Finance & Administration IT in various IT sessions, such as UGANET and ad hoc committees across campus.
- Develop and deliver IT system training to IT staff and functional clients.
