Department Information

The Department of Media, Culture, and the Arts within the School of Arts & Letters at Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art, Graphic Design. This position will support the Graphic Design track of the BA in Applied Art and Design program as well as the BA in New Media and Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations

Responsibilities This position involves teaching a 4/4 course load, scholarship, service and student advisement. Teaching responsibilities may include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses, and video-conference classes Travel between campuses (Cochran, Dublin, Macon, and Warner Robins) may be required as needed.

Required Qualifications

M.F.A. in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media or related field.Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver courses at the foundational and advanced undergraduate level in Graphic Design, Typography, Web Design, Photography, Motion Graphics, Illustration and Digital Media. Interest in and commitment to contributing to the growth and evolution of a dynamic graphic design program. Student-centered approach to teaching with a strong commitment to engagement. Strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills. Active involvement in scholarly and creative practice.Commitment and ability to work in and foster a diverse and inclusive environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of both traditional and digital studio practices.Expertise in photography, animation, and video.Evidence of innovative pedagogical practices.Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of coursework.Two years of teaching experience at the college or University level.
