Position Description:
Administer the instructional computing unit for the Samueli School of Engineering. The instructional computing unit is comprised of an extensive infrastructure of 55 servers and over 200 windows machines in 5 computing labs. Incumbent coordinates the technical design, planning,
installation, and maintenance of Active Directory authentication servers, UNIX engineering application and login servers, samba servers, and Network Appliance filers providing disk space used for instructional computing. Focus is placed on future growth, scalability and green
computing technologies. Maintains remote computing services for 24/7 access to complex engineering UNIX and Windows applications used by over 500 undergraduate, graduate, and online master's courses with an uptime goal of 99.9%. Works directly with The Samueli School of
Engineering faculty, teaching assistants and visiting lecturers to install complex engineering applications for over 4,500 enrolled students. Preside over policy and management of SEASnet software download site that includes access for students and faculty to the MSDNAA program. MSDNAA has provided approximately $4-6M annually in gifted contributions to The Samueli School of Engineering since its inception in 2001.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
