These Academic Administrators of Teacher and Instructional Mentoring will introduce and orient new teachers and experienced teachers to implement inquiry cycles for adult learning using research-based improvement processes for the purpose of reflection and development. They will facilitate the development, implementation, and documentation of structured tools to facilitate reciprocal classroom observations and support of the whole child with a constructivist
framework. They will also co-plan with teachers and provide feedback, guide teachers in the use of assessment and student performance data, co-construct classroom instructional observation tools and protocols for analyzing student work, and support the facilitation of team meetings with a distributed leadership approach. Both Academic Administrators will report directly to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Essential functions
  1. Model high-quality instruction and reflective practice.
  2. Demonstrate teaching methods consistent with contemporary research and standards of excellence.
  3. Model use of an inquiry-based approach
  4. Co-plan with teachers and provide feedback
  5. Guide teachers in the use of assessments and student performance data.
  6. Encourage reflective practice and facilitate suggestions for alternative approaches where appropriate in a constructive and professional manner.
  7. Co-construct classroom instructional observation tools and protocols for analyzing student work.
  8. Support facilitation of team meetings with a distributed leadership approach

UCLA Lab School, part of the School of Education & Information Studies, is an innovative school committed to research-based education for an ethnically, linguistically, socially, and economically diverse student body of approximately 450 students, ages 4-12. UCLA Lab School serves as a demonstration site for public schools across the county, state and nation, exemplifying best practices and the translation of research into practice.

Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, and may be asked to conduct a demonstration lesson. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Qualifications
Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Educational Administration,
or other relevant major (Required)
Spanish (Preferred)
Experience in a Dual Language Program (Preferred)
Experience with inclusion (Preferred)
Experience with Cognitive Guided Instruction (Preferred)
Experience with Reader's and Writer's Workshop (Preferred)
Experience with an inquiry approach (Preferred)
6 -8 years of teaching experience
3 years of school leadership experience, including out of classroom instructional coaching, administration and collaborative leadership
