Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks an experienced leader and administrator for the position of Registrar. In collaboration with academic leadership and with offices across the Institute, the Registrar manages all functions related to academic records, academic standing, course schedules, and registration. The Registrar reports to the Dean of the Faculty and serves ex officio on several important leadership groups in Academic Affairs.

The Registrar must have exceptional attention to detail, commitment to accuracy of all academic records and institutional data, and a positive focus on serving Rose-Hulman’s constituents and especially its students. Understanding and complying with institutional and federal policies (such as FERPA), the Registrar will work with faculty and staff to administer academic procedures and policies, manage schedules of classes and online registration, process transfer credit, and determine students’ eligibility for graduation. The qualified applicant will have experience with administrative software systems, as the Office of the Registrar manages records and processes in systems such as Banner. The Registrar will certify institutional data and records needed for internal departments and for ensuring compliance with external agencies, ranging from accreditation agencies to the National Clearinghouse to the NCAA. Finally, they will provide leadership and support for a student-oriented staff and will be the face of the Office of the Registrar in communication with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Success as Rose-Hulman’s Registrar will require

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, critical for maintaining effective working relationships and ensuring institution-wide teamwork
  • Strong knowledge of governmental, accreditation and institutional policies governing institutional operation, reporting and academic records
  • Ability to lead an accomplished staff, serving faculty, staff, students, and families in an academically rigorous, student-centered environment
  • Extensive collaboration to design, execute, and revise policies and procedures
  • Willingness to actively support the Mission of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, which seeks to provide the world’s best undergraduate education in science, engineering, and mathematics in an environment of individual attention and support.

The successful candidate is expected to have the following required education, skills and experience:

  • A Master’s degree or higher
  • Strong commitment and attention to detail and accuracy
  • At least three years of experience in a Registrar’s Office, or comparable experiences in higher education that show related duties and increasing responsibility

Proficiency with academic enterprise software and student record systems (with knowledge of Banner being especially valuable)
