The Role in Brief
The Campus Dean - Online is responsible for leading the overall academic and operational performance of the Online Campus. Academic and administrative excellence, growth and financial leadership are top priorities. Academic planning, human resource development, alliance-building, and continuous improvement are key.


The Campus Dean will perform a wide variety of tasks to ensure effective and efficient campus operations and administration. They will support leadership in monitoring and directing the flow of services to all students, faculty, and staff to ensure operational procedures are being followed and seek improvement and advisement regarding those procedures throughout the entire campus operation. This position will work closely with the other Campus Deans as well as the Executive Campus Dean and will serve as an evening and weekend resource to external and internal constituent groups as required.


This position will also work closely with key functional leaders across The Chicago School and the TCS Education System, including Enrollment Services, Marketing, Admissions Operations, and Financial Aid, to establish and implement best practices and innovative strategies appropriate for supporting the success of The Chicago School.

The Campus Dean - Online will oversee the new program growth and growth of existing programs through robust grass roots efforts. They will also work closely with the AVP of Admission to ensure that their admission team is trained and performing at a high level.


This position will be Remote. The Campus Dean may be required to travel to Los Angeles or other Campus for Board Meetings, Trainings or other events.

Principal Duties

Strategic Leadership

  • Ensure quality academics in all aspects of teaching and learning (curriculum, delivery models, student learning outcomes)

  • In collaboration with the Department Chairs and Student Support teams, ensure high quality academic advising, student services and engaging events

  • Plan and administer the campus annual budget: manage the revenues of the operation and control the expenses

  • Access needs for campus resources and ensure that resources are planned for, acquired, and properly implemented

  • Work with program, campus and University leadership to ensure program and institutional compliance with criteria for professional accreditation, regional

  • Support the overall strategic operational processes for the campus to assure the delivery of high-quality academic services at the campus level

  • Assist in implementing 5-year, annual and organizational goals in a manner that ensures the campus’ fiscal and operational success

  • Lead innovation in an online environment

Drive Outstanding Admissions Performance

  • Manage day-to-day enrollment strategy and admissions activity for assigned campuses and admissions teams, using data to focus coaching and attention to improve performance

  • Monitor key performance indicators to ensure performance is on track; recommend and make real-time adjustments to optimize performance across the year

  • In collaboration with the Department Chairs, work to develop effective grassroots recruitment strategies to support enrollment

Executive Collaboration and Management

  • Partner with institutional and system leaders to identify best practices, drive implementation at The Chicago School, and pursue ongoing improvement in key areas (e.g., Enrollment Services, Marketing, Admissions Operations, and Financial Aid)

  • Collaborate with the Executive Dean to ensure institutional alignment between Campuses

  • Prepare executive-level updates and reports about the campus team performance and student outcomes

Team Leadership and Management

  • Oversee Online Campus team members

  • In partnership with Executive Dean and university leaders, set annual and cycle-specific team and individual goals that support the institution's enrollment goals

  • Working collaboratively with Human Resources, ensure that the Campus is staffed effectively and efficiently

  • Manage and motivate teams across admissions cycles, building and maintaining a strong team culture focused on achieving results through outstanding execution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution

  • Senior level experience in higher education administration with a strong record of operational leadership and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated success with achieving and exceeding enrollment targets in a competitive and ever-changing recruiting environment

  • Team management and leadership: experience building, managing, and leading a team; coaching and driving performance; and holding staff accountable to deadlines and outcomes

  • Strong understanding of teaching and learning within multiple delivery modalities

  • Ability to travel and work evenings and/or weekends, as necessary

  • Proficiency with higher education technology tools including Learning Management Systems, artificial intelligence, learning engagement tools, etc.

  • Exceptional ability to successfully work in a team environment, as well as autonomously, and manage self and team to goals and deadlines

  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization and across teams to achieve results

  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, build and maintain strong relationships, and creatively solve problems to ensure organizational success

  • Expertise in leveraging cutting edge technology to reduce transactional distance and having an innovative perspective for online learners
