Position Description:
Reporting to the Dean of the UCLA School of Dentistry, the Director of Communications will have 4 primary areas of responsibilities: (1) Strategic Marketing & Communications, which includes but is not limited to, developing and implementing a strategic communication program designed to enhance the visibility and reputation of the School, advancing leadership initiatives, and reinforcing the School's identity among key internal and external constituencies (e.g., faculty, staff, current and prospective students, postgraduate trainees, the general public and higher education community); and creating and managing a strong and integrated program that leverages targeted media relations, internal communication, social media, website communications and print magazine to build support for the School and advance the School's strategic plan; (2) Internal and Media/Public Relations, which includes but is not limited to, preparing a variety of written communications (e.g., media releases, school publications, and announcements), responding to media inquiries, and managing and overseeing video and film shoots; (3) Development Liaison, which includes but is not limited to, assisting, supporting and working with the School's Development and External Affairs group in their fundraising, promotional and development activities; and (4) Digital Communications/Website Management/Social Media, which includes but is not limited to, developing a digital content strategy for the School, managing the School's social channels, maintaining the School website, and acting as the School's webmaster.

The Director will lead the School's branding efforts in conjunction with the UCLA brand and work closely with UCLA Strategic Communications and the Health Sciences media offices to ensure that efforts to position the School's proprietary strengths are supported by and compatible with campus-wide messaging, and will enable the School to leverage support for critical priorities.

Duties are performed onsite during normal office working hours with the possibility of a FlexWork schedule. Working hours may include weekends, evenings and holidays and may require light travel.
