Position Overview: The Innkeeper Chef is an on-site position for Unity Colleges 150 acre Sky Lodge campus tucked into Maines northwest timber country in Moose River, Maine. The Innkeeper Chef is a revenue generating position overseeing both lodging operations and food service. This individual will ensure the campus isrun efficiently, professionally, and profitablybyoverseeingthe activities associated with the overall guest experience. The Sky Lodge campus includes a historic log-cabin lodge with 12 guest rooms and a 50-seat dining room, along with a welcome center, six cabin homes available for rent by the public, an educational facility enjoyed by the local community, and onsite trails. Key Responsibilities:
- Creates unique memorial experiences for our guests.
- Implements a hands-on approach to effectively manage the quality of daily operations following standard operating procedure.
- Assists the director in managing the front desk, restaurant, catered events, and guest amenities to ensure smooth operations and the highest level of guest satisfaction.
- Sources and prepares meals for guests of the lodge in connection with our focus on environmental sustainability.
- Seeks out new agreements with vendors, service providers, and other suppliers to continue the growth of Unity College: Sky Lodge as a sustainable business enterprise.
- Inspects all food service spaces for cleanliness, maintains sanitary logs, and always ensures proper food safety, with a knowledge of food allergy protocols.
Work Schedule / Availability Requirements
Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and can include days,early mornings,evenings, and weekends. Working extended hours required as needed.On-call hours may also be required.Must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling responsibilities and meeting theColleges needs. Although Unity College employees are generally scheduled to work at their specifically assigned locations, there are times when travel is necessary and employees are required from time to time to attend events, meetings or work temporary assignment at any Unity College location.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.The employee is often required to stand and/or walk, reach with arms,climbor balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to50lbs.andup to 100 pounds with the use of designated moving equipment.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of either hand for repetitive movements such as grasping,graspingand turning, and fine manipulation is required as is the ability to use the telephone for internal and external communications.
Location - Moose River:
Work is performed in a campus setting with lodging and food service environmentsthere may be a mix of office work, driving,field work,and walking the facility outdoors and indoors in all types of weather.The field work could be indoors inresort and college buildingsor outdoors in yards, fields,woodsor any of the Colleges properties. Exposure to changes in temperature or humidity is possible duringout of office work. The noise level in the work environment can vary and hearing protection may be needed around operating equipment and machinery.
