Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a M.A. or Ph.D. degree in a field of study commensurate with environmental or civil engineering, public policy, environmental sciences, public administration, or planning are preferred. Relevant experience, particularly in the military, may be considered in lieu of degree preferences.

Applicants located in the Fort Benning area are preferred.

Position Summary:

This position will facilitate building collaborative relationships between military installations, the local governments and communities that support them, and the University of Georgia. The person in this position will coordinate research activities; conduct outreach, engagement and collaboration activities; facilitate and conduct grant writing, and coordinate other projects with one or more military installations, with Fort Benning as the primary focus. The position will work closely with UGA faculty and staff with the Institute of Government and in the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems, as well as with professionals at Fort Benning, the Department of Defense, and their public and private sector partners and government officials and community groups in the surrounding communities. The goal of facilitating these collaborations will be to leverage existing research and planning projects and assist in the development and promotion of projects to enhance the resilience of communities and military installations, and the infrastructure systems, while promoting the goals and values of the community. The position will also be responsible for assisting in drafting, finalizing, and presenting project findings to clients and stakeholders, identifying funding opportunities for projects, and assisting in the proposals or other documents to secure such funding. In addition, responsibilities include providing general project support for the Institute of Government’s Planning and Environmental Services Unit and the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems, which includes organizing meetings, working with clients and stakeholders, developing and implementing training and outreach materials, and assisting with community outreach and training events.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Directs the development of collaborative relationships with military installations, local government, and community partners. This includes developing relationships with stakeholders, setting up in-person and online meetings, conducting and facilitating in-person and online meetings, attending and presenting at stakeholder meetings and conferences, and conducting research and developing materials to support collaboration on projects.

This includes understanding potential project funding sources, developing projects for funding, writing grants to acquire funding for identified projects, and conducting project management activities such as scheduling and organizing project meetings, managing project timelines, and developing and/or leading the development of project deliverables.
