Due to extensive funding growth, the Georgia Health Policy Center seeks qualified applicants for a research associate II (RA II) position. GHPC, established in 1995, integrates research, policy, and programs to advance health and well‐being. The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative findings to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. Today, the center is at work in more than 220 communities in all 50 states, helping our nation to improve its health status. In 2017, the GHPC added a global portfolio, including work in Nigeria, Sudan, Kenya, and Ireland.

 

The center’s current scope of work includes behavioral health, child health & well-being, community health systems development, health & health care financing, health in all policies, health systems transformation, long-term services & support, population & global health, and rural health.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

This RA II will work primarily on projects within the portfolio focusing on aging, disabilities, and long-term services and supports. Central to the center’s work in this portfolio is using a systems perspective to identify gaps in coordination between delivery systems and public agencies, focusing on sustainable solutions. Staff use a variety of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and policies. Staff expertise is often sought in guiding and facilitating needs assessments, state and strategic plans, strategic communications, and workforce development. Current projects in the portfolio are related to aging and COVID-19, aging in place, workforce training for state advocates providing case management for consumers, and a program evaluation focused on transitions from institutions to home and community-based settings. This is an Atlanta-based position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The scope of responsibility will include these specific areas and duties but is not limited to the following:

 

Applicant must be extremely organized and possess strong research, writing, analytical, and project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and coordinate multiple clients, teams, budgets, deadlines, and deliverables.

 

Responsibilities of this position may include:

  • Serves as a project manager and supports the management of grants and contracts.
  • Contributes to the research team through qualitative and quantitative analysis. 
  • Participates in the design and facilitation of internal and external meetings.
  • Contributes to the development of creative solutions to complex health policy issues.
  • Conducts literature reviews, contributes to the analytic plan, collects data, and analyzes results.
  • Drafts reports, abstracts, briefing papers, presentations, and other research-related communications.
  • Reports on GHPC projects to build key stakeholder awareness through accepted communications channels.
  • Builds relationships with external stakeholders including legislators, community leaders, and academicians.
  • Attends meetings and represents the GHPC at conferences and national meetings.
  • Serves as a mentor to research associates, graduate research assistants, and students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
