The Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary is accepting applications for adjunct instructors with expertise in child and adolescent therapy in the Marriage and Family Therapy program. Academic teaching and clinical lab instructor positions are available.
STARTING DATE: January 2023
Applications will be reviewed as they are received. An appointment will be made as soon as a suitable candidate(s) is discerned.
OPPORTUNITYThe Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program is a vibrant, rapidly growing program situated within the Biblical Seminary at Fresno Pacific University offered at the main campus location in Fresno, California. MFT faculty members are known for their engagement and transformative work with students and in local communities. Fresno County is ethnically diverse and has several of the deepest pockets of poverty in the United States. The MFT program prepares students to serve a diverse, multicultural clientele and engage with people who are at-risk, underserved, or marginalized. Spanish and/or Hmong-speaking faculty applicants are highly desired.
ROLEThe Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program is looking for two adjunct faculty instructors with expertise in child and adolescent therapy to join a collaborative faculty team and diverse student body. Primary duties include teaching graduate courses in child and adolescent therapy, establishing partnerships and overseeing child lab placements of MFT students, and positive community investment within the Central Valley. Significant counseling experience is required. License or license eligibility within California as a marriage and family therapist or clinical psychologist is preferred, with associated professional licensing considered. AAMFT and/or CAMFT supervisor designation or candidate certification preferred, but not mandatory.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONThe MFT program is intentionally placed within the Seminary at Fresno Pacific University. MFT faculty function as part of an interdisciplinary team in Seminary operations alongside faculty in Bible, Theology, Pastoral Ministries, Community Transformation, and Missions. Significant importance is placed on the integration of counseling, psychology, and the Christian faith within all MFT courses. In addition to emphasizing excellence in academics and clinical skill acquisition, a unique element of the MFT program at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary rests in its prioritization of the development of the person of the therapist. Faculty focus on intrapsychic and relational character formation to produce insightful, well-grounded clinicians prepared for the complexities of work in the counseling field. Teaching and mentoring are significant aspects of faculty investment. An entrepreneurial spirit with a view of counseling as ministry and interest in developing new avenues of reaching underserved populations is highly desired.
QUALIFICATIONSRequiredDependent on qualifications and experience.
