Job Description:

This position is located in University Benefits, Retirement, and Leave Administration with the University of Florida Human Resources (UFHR). Responsible for coordinating and processing enrollment activities for all benefits eligible groups, including academic faculty, clinical faculty, Technical, Executive, Administrative and Managerial Support (TEAMS), University Support Personnel System (USPS), and temporary/Other Personnel Services (OPS) employees. Counsels employees on benefits plans, retirement plans, leave of absence process, and continuation of coverage. Collaborates with colleagues in UFHR Benefits to provide excellent customer service and help UF employees attain necessary information regarding benefits and retirement related matters.

Responsible for coordinating and processing enrollment activities for all benefits eligible groups, including academic faculty members, clinical faculty members, TEAMS, USPS, temporary, and OPS employees.

Benefits: Assist University of Florida (UF) employees in obtaining necessary information about benefits program eligibility for both state of Florida and University of Florida plans. Answer telephone calls and emails from UF employees inquiring about health insurance and other fringe benefits. Handle complex problems and complaints. Assist UF employees in obtaining general information about benefits, retirement, leave, retirement loans/hardships, and cash outs. Assist employees with duplicate warrant process through the State of Florida to facilitate reissuance of a flexible spending account (FSA) reimbursement check.

Retirement: Provide Optional Retirement Program (ORP) counseling, Florida Retirement System (FRS) and Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) retirement counseling to our eligible employees. Responsible for communicating ORP procedures for enrollments and changes with the ORP approved companies. Counsel individually with faculty and TEAMS employees, university-wide to insure employees properly enroll in the ORP within the 90-day period. Consult with the Assistant Director of Benefits (as needed) on ORP eligibility matters requiring Division of Retirement (DOR) intervention. Provides Florida Retirement System (FRS) counseling to USPS, TEAMS, and academic employees. Review and maintain employee retirement contributions to the DOR. Review and analyze monthly retirement reports (including DROP participants) to ensure accuracy of payroll deductions based on enrollment information. Prepares Final Salary Certifications (FC-1) for employees retiring and transmits to DOR for employees retiring. Coordinate with departments on information regarding annual and sick leave lump-sum payments. Audits payroll record on each employee to ensure that leave has been paid timely and does not conflict with FC-1 certification to DOR. Advise employees of voluntary retirement savings options and enrollment steps and responds to follow-up inquiries. Process enrollment paperwork and coordinate deductions with the appropriate vendor.

Enrollments/Qualifying Status Changes/Terminations: Make sure enrollments/qualifying status changes/terminations for employee benefits are processed in PeopleSoft and with appropriate vendors, including enrollment.

Leaves of Absence: Advise employees and/or departments regarding continuation of benefits during an approved leave of absence. Counsel employees about the option of maintaining insurance during an approved leave of absence and calculates premiums based on the leave taken. Develop payment schedules corresponding with the leave of absence to assist with collection of timely payments. Assist with addition of dependents, changes of coverage, etc. resulting from leave of absence. Re-enroll employees upon return from leave. Correspond with employees and vendors regarding premium payment problems.

May review and maintain other benefits programs such as GatorPerks.

$47,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
