Duties and Responsibilities:

The Research Methodology program area in the School of Education at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for a one-year, full-time clinical assistant professor (non-tenure track). This full-time, academic year position has 4-3 teaching load over 9 months (paid over 12 months) to begin August 2022. The successful candidate will teach graduate level (Masters, EdD, PhD) courses related to introductory research methods, program evaluation, qualitative research, and mixed methods to students in various programs within the School of Education and other social and health science programs at Loyola. Course offerings include in-person, online (synchronous and asynchronous), and blended formats. The candidate will also have the opportunity to advise and mentor graduate students, and participate in program and school-level service. Research and publication are not required, but opportunities for collaborative research are available and encouraged. Loyola faculty have a strong commitment to quality teaching and scholarship. The university offers a variety of resources for professional development including the Center for Faculty Excellence, Office of Online Learning, Faculty Center for Ignatian Pedagogy, and Center for Engaged Learning Teaching and Scholarship.
The selected individual will play a key role in ongoing social justice initiatives shaped around the SOE’s conceptual framework and mission. We seek candidates who will collaborate with colleagues across the program, SOE, and larger university to support interdisciplinary collaborations. Candidates will also demonstrate a strong commitment to urban education and dedication to serving a historically minoritized student population consistent with Loyola’s commitment to advancing social justice through transformative education.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include: an earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Educational Psychology, Program Evaluation, Educational Research Methodology, or another social science discipline, and the ability to teach courses in research methods (study designs), program evaluation,
qualitative inquiry, and mixed methods.

Preferred experiential qualifications include: prior teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness, the ability to practice culturally responsive teaching, anti-racist pedagogy, and a social justice lens to research methods, strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including an appreciation of or engagementin high-impact teaching practices, as well as an ability to contribute to the Jesuit educational mission of the university.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:
