The Office of Communications has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Creative Multimedia Manager position.
Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Creative Brand and Marketing for the Office of Communications at CU Anschutz Medical Campus, the Creative Multimedia Manager works collaboratively and strategically to produce high-quality multimedia content and manage our broadcast studio.

The person in this role will design, produce, and edit multimedia content from concept to completion, including video, photography, motion graphics, and podcasts to support efforts to amplify the awareness and reach of the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. The person in this role will also ensure that all content is consistently delivered on time, within budget and with a high level of quality, in accordance with industry best practices.

Additionally, the Creative Multimedia Manager will oversee the CU Anschutz broadcast studio, including enforcing policies, procedures and managing training for studio operations, staffing remote media interviews, and tracking of studio use.

This role also assists the facilitation of TV and radio media requests and interviews on campus as needed; coordinates and supports broadcast efforts during select campus events; ensures all broadcast equipment is in working order and reflects current industry needs and standards; troubleshoots technical issues, and stays current on the latest broadcast, video, and design trends and technology. There will be other duties as assigned, and the position may involve after-hours staffing as needed.

Examples of Work Performed:

Multimedia Production

  • Tells compelling stories in a variety of formats, from short teasers to long-form videos; conceptualizes/produces effective videos for social media platforms
  • Monitors and remains current on video and photo trends, editing techniques and styles, as well as content platforms
  • Coordinates pre-production and production planning activities and logistics
  • Collaborates with the Office of Communications team to plan and create multimedia content for project assignment, audience, and intended message
  • Determines the best method for producing multimedia assets based on project needs
  • Utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts
  • Creates motion graphics for various projects using industry standard practices, communicates to best engage the audience for specific projects or messages in an engaging and consistent way
  • Creates and delivers motion graphics in various media including web, mobile, etc.
  • Selects and uses appropriate photographic and/or video equipment to record events and subjects
  • Applies CU brand standards to projects to ensure consistent representation of the CU brand
  • Uses photography expertise to capture professional, high-quality images
  • Uses photo editing software and applications to edit, crop, and enhance photographs
  • Manages digital assets along with cataloging, archiving and sharing to meet team and campus needs
  • Other duties as assigned
Broadcast Studio Management

  • Manages and operates the Office of Communications broadcast studio with our Media Relations team for live and pre-recorded broadcasts
  • Serves as the technical lead on issues related to the studio
  • Maintains all video, photo and broadcast studio equipment
  • Maintains and updates processes and protocols for studio use based upon industry standards and best practices
  • Oversees scheduling and tracking of studio use
  • Serves as lead contact to broadcast vendors
  • Trains studio users on best practices and developing training materials
  • Assists with radio interviews and podcasts
Film Requests

  • Reviews film requests in coordination with the Office of Communications media team, facilities, risk management, and legal

Salary and Benefits:

  • The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $62,653 - $80,000
  • The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
  • The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
  • This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in film, multimedia, video production, motion graphics, marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or a related field
  • At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in video, photography, digital engagement, marketing environments
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Competencies:

  • Expert-level skills, experience, and aptitude in Adobe Creative Cloud with specialized expertise in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, and other software as needed 
  • Demonstrated leadership and success in video, photography and motion graphics, including broadcast studio management. Substitution: Education may be substituted with relevant work experience on a year for year basis
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and patience within a fast-paced, fun, and collaborative environment
  • Proven track record producing engaging video content
  • Ability and knowledge to manage and operate broadcast studio
  • Expert-level proficiency with both standard and state-of-the-art video, camera, audio equipment and technology, in a professional broadcast studio environment
  • Knowledge of media production technologies, video systems, and web-based applications
  • Self-starter who can work both independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when needed, but this is not the standard
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment
  • Excellent project management skills, strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to tell a captivating story in a variety of formats, from short teasers to long-form videos; strong working knowledge of how to conceptualize/produce effective videos for social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Vimeo, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook
  • Proficiency in video color correction, photo retouching, and sound mixing; strong working knowledge of different video formats and video file conversions
  • Excellent relationship management skills
