The Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Finance & Accounting Professional position.

Examples of Work Performed:

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Serves as a key Finance Professional and resource for faculty and staff in the Division.
  • Develops and maintains spreadsheets, databases, dashboard reports and other analysis instruments for tracking and monthly and quarterly reporting; prepares material for periodic presentations regarding the financial state of the division and monthly reports for faculty and the Division.
  • Disseminates financial reports and/or helps with interpretation of reports related to physician clinical activity, grant funds, and faculty salary distribution as well as ICR and state funds for the Division.
  • Reconciles accounts and charges for multiple financial systems, including University, CU Medicine and the CU Foundation.
  • Assists with the oversight of the grant and contract operations of the post award program for the Division including: develops and provides monthly financial reports for faculty regarding post-award grant funding, subcontract initiation and monitoring, and other finance duties for post-award grant management.
  • Entering and tracking funding distributions on a monthly basis and manages the monthly suspense report and annual changes needed at the beginning of the fiscal year annually.
  • Responds to requests for information; researches financial data, and troubleshoots discrepancies and initiates journal entries (JEs), retroactive payroll transfers (PETs), or other corrective adjustments.
  • Compile, review and prepare financial information to assess whether revenues and expenses are on target to meet budget forecasts for the Division and individual faculty clinical income versus expenses.
  • Assesses systems and demonstrates initiative in making suggestions for streamlining, cost savings, improving workflow or other process improvements.
  • Assists with the academic incentive program involving three key areas including research, publications, and service. This involves a complex spreadsheet to gather the information from a variety of sources and calculate the distribution annually for the Med Onc and DOM academic incentive plans.
  • Collecting and processing time sheets on a monthly basis.
  • Managing and tracking invoices for subcontracts and other contracts.
  • Depositing sponsor payments and donor checks.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Division Administrator, Division Head or Deputy Division Head.

Minimum Qualifications:

    A bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.1 year of professional level experience in financial and/budget management experience in a professional environment.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience working in a large complex public institution, higher education, healthcare or health sciences center environment.
  • Experience with computer programs relevant to finance, budgeting, patient accounting or other business areas at the University of Colorado (HCM, MyBI, AX, Webspace, etc.).

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $44,325 to $57,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
