The Facilities Management department at SIUE is seeking qualified candidates to fill current and future positions as a Grounds Equipment Mechanic. The Grounds Equipment Mechanic will service, repair and maintain all SIUE grounds equipment, from string trimmers to backhoes. Duties include:
-Diagnosis and performs tests to determine issue and repair broken or worn-out parts on equipment as needed.
-Schedule daily, monthly, and yearly maintenance for all grounds related equipment and other related equipment with various departments; maintains maintenance records.
-Perform welding using: Arc, Acetylene and Mig to repair equipment.
-Perform work incidental to lawn, planting, maintenance, i.e., using appropriate equipment.
-Assist in tree planting and removal and perform, as directed, repair and maintenance of secondary roads and parking areas, clean streets and catch basins.

Additionally, the Grounds Equipment Mechanic will perform other duties as assigned, such as moving furniture and other materials/equipment; assist in other crafts as needed; removal of snow and ice from roads, sidewalks, stairs, ramps, driveways and parking lots.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Four (4) years of full-time experience or training, or a combination of the two, in the servicing, repairing, and maintenance of grounds equipment.

FLSA Exemption Status:Non-Exempt Posting Salary:$16.96 Hourly; excellent benefits package. This position is represented by a union and the current negotiated contract includes salary increases over a three (3) year period (three (3) year tiered system) up to $29.62 at the third year.
