Job Description/Responsibilities
The Environmental Resources Training Center (ERTC) is accepting resume packages for Adjunct Lecturer positions for the 2022-2023 academic year. This listing does not represent an actual vacancy; rather open recruitment allows interested persons to submit materials for future vacancies within the ERTC.

The Adjunct Lecturer will teach the ERTC’s on-campus or off-campus, non-credit evening courses or workshops in water supply and wastewater treatment facility operations, maintenance, management, laboratory procedures, or cross-connection control. ERTC will make individual appointments to teach on a course-by-course basis selecting the best person(s) qualified to teach courses in their specialty. The Adjunct Lecturer may also be utilized and participate in on-going special projects. All qualified applicants will constitute a pool from which appointments will be made on an as-needed basis.

The ERTC mission is to equip students with the job skills and resources needed to thrive in the industry, thereby creating a competent workforce. The training center offers specialized courses for both entry-level personnel who are preparing for a career in drinking water and wastewater treatment systems, and those already employed in such systems seeking additional education to upgrade job skills, obtain advanced certification levels, and prepare for more responsible positions. In addition, ERTC offers courses for licensed plumbers in cross-connection control or backflow prevention. For more information on the ERTC, visit: https://www.siue.edu/ertc/

Minimum Qualifications
For Wastewater or Water training, instructor must hold certification as Illinois Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator or Illinois Class A Water Supply Operator. For Cross Connection Control training, instructor must be a licensed plumber. Instructor or special project staff needs an AAS degree or the equivalent in training and expertise. Demonstrated desire and ability to teach occupational skills courses are essential. Teaching experience in community college or similar program or equivalent documented experience teaching occupational-technical programs is preferred.

Applications must be received 30 days prior to start of the semester to be considered for appointments to teach. Fall 2022 classes begin on August 22, 2022, spring 2023 classes begin January 9, 2023. Appointments will continue until all open positions are filled.
