A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) invites applications for an exempt Department of Medical Education (DME) Program Coordinator on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the DME Program Manager. The DME Program Coordinator is responsible for performing duties to support program needs and help coordinate compliance with accreditation standards in the curricular planning, assessment, and day-to-day operations of the DME.

Major Job Duties:
  • Promote and preserve the mission of ATSU-SOMA.
  • Work collaboratively with the DME, Associate/Assistant Deans for Innovation and Curricular Integration, Course Directors, faculty, and staff to support curricular delivery, curricular assessment, and other workflow processes. 
  • Assist with other duties and functions as needed/assigned by the DME Program Manager and/or designee to maintain efficient and effective daily operations. 
  • Assist course director with grade book management, academic calendar creation, and updating booklists.
  • Post announcements to the learning management system as approved.
  • Assist with creation, administration, and data collection for Y1 and Y2 course, instructor, and Institutional surveys.
  • Assist with creating and administering Y1 and Y2 examinations. 
  • Organize and maintain architecture of digital resources and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Office 365, ExamSoft, Evalue, Progress IQ, etc.).
  • Be willing to learn new software tools as they become institutionalized.
  • Provide coverage for absent DME support staff.
  • Assist with training support staff.
  • Participate in and support committee meetings as assigned.
  • Proctor examinations as needed.
  • Be willing to gain knowledge about the educational model of ATSU-SOMA.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with students, staff, faculty, and leadership in matters related to ATSU-SOMA and Institutional effectiveness and assessment.
  • Act as a departmental representative with students, staff, leadership, and visitors in a professional, friendly manner. 
  • Participate in designated Institutional activities.
  • Support the DME in its role in the ATSU-SOMA Strategic Plan 2021-2028 Agile Resource Management Theme to “manage continual growth by developing an adaptable system of resource management.”
  • Maintain FERPA confidentiality and security of student data in accordance with applicable law and Institutional Policies and Procedures.
Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required (health sciences or related major + technology or related minor preferred).
  • Two to three years' experience in higher education, preferably medical education and hybrid education model that includes distance and classroom learning.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain an established work schedule.
  • Ability to understand, assess, and use professional judgment.
  • Ability to set priorities, project deadlines, and meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously, ensuring accurate output. Demonstrate initiative in being proactive, anticipating needs, and completing tasks accurately.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact on a professional level with administration, faculty, students, and staff.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changed priorities and effectively handle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Effective use of diplomacy, tact, and judgment.
