Each year, over 30,000 patients are treated in the VH. The VH provides compassionate, state of the art specialty healthcare, expert clinical instruction for 4th year veterinary students, and ongoing investigation of innovative techniques and procedures to further advance the field of veterinary medicine.

Teach VMC 960: Small Animal Emergency Service; VMC 976: Veterinary Critical Care. These teaching assignments are linked to provision of small animal emergency and critical care services and patient care in the NC State Veterinary Hospital. Participate in DVM and house officer education, continuing education, public relations programs, and committees of the College of Veterinary Medicine; conduct research and scholarly activity in the field of small animal emergency and critical care medicine. Minimum Education and Experience:
DVM and board certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and two years of experience as a Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Resident (certified by the ACVECC). Other Required Qualifications:
Must have demonstrated experience with: providing small animal emergency and critical care services, including didactic and clinical teaching of veterinary medical students and participating in patient care; supervising interns and residents and providing continuing education for veterinarians and veterinary nurses; providing extracorporeal therapy (hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, therapeutic plasma exchange) for dogs and cats with acute kidney disease, intoxications, and immune-mediated diseases; teaching veterinary sciences classes on the topics of emergency and critical care medicine and communications; and conducting scholarly research in the field of small animal emergency and critical care medicine, nephrology, and genetic research.Preferred Qualifications:
