Position Description

The Facilities Coordinator at Flagler College is a full-time position that is responsible for evening facility care of all Residence Halls on Flagler Colleges campus as well as the Proctor Library and Ringhaver Student Center. The Facility Coordinator will help to monitor all Residence Hall facilities to ensure doors are locked, will make minor maintenance repairs, and assist with minor housekeeping duties. Furthermore, they will respond to emergency and minor facility concerns that occur while on work hours and assist students as needed.

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Housing Operations.

The schedule is as follows:

Sunday Thursday (3:30 p.m. 12:00 a.m.)
Wednesday Saturday (3:30 p.m. 2:00 a.m.)
Friday Tuesday (3:30 p.m. 12:00 a.m.)

Major/Essential Functions:

Facilities/Housekeeping:

  • Complete rounds throughout all residence hall areas.
  • Perform minor facility duties and repairs as needed throughout the residence halls including, but not limited to changing lights, fixing doors, handling A/C and HVAC concerns, plumbing issues, addressing leaks throughout the hallways, as well as any other issues that may arise.
  • Perform basic housekeeping functions including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, spill isolation and clean-up, disinfection, replacement of batteries for automatic dispensers.
  • Understand how to perform the basic functions of cursory assessment for questionable microbial growth, air quality, AC system efficiency, moisture detection, and an ability to accurately communicate any such concerns with the Facilities Department.
  • Empty trash from rooms.
  • Move furniture as needed.
  • Monitor the community kitchens and ensure they are secure and clean.
  • Check and clean all laundry machines and submit work orders if there is a malfunction.
  • Assists in the Assistant of Housing Operations in the management of the Laundry Services process, procedure, and contract to ensure that residents are responsive and knowledgeable regarding laundry procedures, laundry machines are accurately and adequately reported for deficiencies, and the service contractor is responsive to the needs of the College.
  • Walk the exterior of all residence halls to check for non-residents, lighting, and other facility concerns.

Communication/Other:

  • Submit nightly reports to the Assistant Director of Housing Operations.
  • Report any observed violations of law or breach of peace to Flagler College Security.
  • Report any discrepancies, unusual activities, and violations of housing policy to the Office of Residence Life.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with Flagler College Security and the Office of Residence Life.
  • Communicate via two-way radio or duty phones.
  • Clearly and concisely document all issues encountered using the electronic maintenance work order system.
  • Drive College vehicles.
Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Three years minimum of maintenance experience including, but not limited to, minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
  • Three years of customer service, public relations or related experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service skills and abilities are essential.
  • Can lift and push a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to attain any needed maintenance or Environmental Health and Safety certifications as necessary.
  • Security-related work experience.
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
