The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a visionary and innovative leader as Vice Chair of the CAPTE-accredited Program. The DPT VC, in cooperation with the Department Chair, is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and management of the DPT program. The appointment for this position will be a 12-month, associate professor with tenure or tenure track. The VC provides visionary leadership for fostering programmatic excellence and for pursuing strategic opportunities for curriculum innovation. Primary responsibilities of the position include effective leadership, faculty mentoring and evaluation, program development, programmatic fiscal management, program assessment activities, curriculum management, student advising, and admissions activities. In addition, as a member of the faculty, the Vice Chair is expected to teach in his/her area of expertise, engage in scholarship, and participate in service to the Department, College, University, and the community. Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• An academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ScD) from an accredited university.
• A Physical Therapist who is licensed or regulated in any United States jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education.
• At least 6 years full time higher education experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a PT educational program.
• A vibrant research program with scholarly track record and evidence of potential for funding.
• Strong mentoring, communication, and collaborative abilities.

The DPT faculty model academic, clinical and research expertise, in addition to innovative teaching and learning opportunities (www.uvm.edu/cnhs/rms/physical_therapy). The small class size of 40 students allows for a variety of teaching approaches between clinical and tenure-track faculty, as well as time for scholarly activity. The DPT program is an integral component of the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences within the University. Uniquely positioned on the UVM main campus, along with our academic colleagues in Medicine, Health Sciences, Engineering, Nutrition and Psychology and our clinical colleagues at the University of Vermont Medical Center, the College provides an exciting academic environment with excellent collaborative relationship potentials for new faculty. The College priorities focus on promoting excellence in research, teaching and learning, interprofessional education, and practice collaborations within a stimulating Academic Medical Center environment.The Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science is comprised of four related areas of study including physical therapy, exercise science, emergency medicine services, and integrative health. A Master’s degree in Physical Activity and Wellness, new Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, and an interprofessional Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences also contribute to a growing Department. Departmental facilities include the recently renovated Human Motion Analysis lab which houses multiple force plates, EMG, and three-dimensional biomechanical equipment for static and dynamic human movement research; a physical activity and exercise behavior lab; and a neurophysiology lab that utilizes TMS and EEG. Other laboratory space for bench research interests is a potential through our interdisciplinary faculty collaborators.
