Organizational Unit Overview:The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is committed to delivering on the three-fold mission it was founded on: to increase the supply of primary care physicians serving the state, to improve the health status of eastern North Carolina’s residents and to enhance access of minority and disadvantaged students to a medical education
Job Duties :This individual as a key contact for the Brody School of Medicine and its alumni, students, and leadership, and liaison to the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation. The Director of Alumni Affairs is responsible for planning and designing programs and projects to strategically engage alumni of the ECU Brody School of Medicine (BSOM). The Director will work in partnership with the BSOM Medical Alumni Society President and will help build, develop, and staff the ECU Medical Alumni Society Board.The Director will work in partnership with leadership at the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and as a liaison to the ECU Alumni Association. Serving as an ambassador for the BSOM, the Director of Alumni Affairs will provide professional expertise and work closely with medical and biomedical alumni and current students, as well as in collaboration with colleagues in other administrative capacities including the office of the BSOM Dean, Admissions, Communications and Marketing, Student Affairs, Office of Medical Education, Diversity Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies and all academic departments, clinical and basic science.
The Director will play a key role in engaging BSOM alumni, building strong professional relationships, and in promoting the priorities of our students, faculty, and BSOM leadership.
Specific Duties:*Developing a strategic plan for BSOM Alumni programmatic growth and development.*Working in partnership with the ECU Medical Alumni Society President in developing an active and engaged alumni leadership board.*Directing, developing, and leading strategic activities and events locally, regionally and nationally.*Developing a strong BSOM communications and marketing presence through print and electronic methods, including a BSOM alumni newsletter, website and social media platforms.*Working closely with the Office of Communications and Marketing to develop story ideas and content for publications, website, and social media.*Working collaboratively with the ECU Office of Alumni Relations to develop effective and mutually beneficial means of approaching the alumni population.*Updating ECU University Advancement database with alumni contact information.*Partnering with the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation to assist in identifying and cultivating BSOM alumni for further engagement.*Partnering with the Office of Student Affairs in on special event including the White Coat Ceremony, Student/Parent Breakfast, and Match Day.*Serving as a liaison to the Brody School of Medicine Parent Organization.Managing the BSOM medical alumni budget.

Master’s degree from an from an accredited academic institution in Business, Accounting, Economics, Community Relations, Communications, or a related field. Or, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution and a minimum of 5 years of professional administrative experience in alumni affairs or a related discipline.
Experience building and leading a comprehensive alumni program including: event and program development, recruiting and working with volunteer boards, budget management and staff supervision, and partnering with Brody School of Medicine leadership, alumni, students, and faculty.
