Coordinator, Unmanned Vehicle Systems Operations (UVSO)
Job Description Summary:
Responsible for creating, coordinating and delivering all aspects of the college UVSO program to include: curriculum development that is engaging, innovative and discipline-appropriate to meet industry needs; equipment purchases relevant to current industry standards and expectations; ongoing reviews and recommendations of resources to enhance learning while encouraging and inspiring interest; inventory management, program marketing that demonstrates a commitment to equity, diversity and cultural responsibility, course scheduling, and other general assistance at the Public Safety Training Center (PSTC).
Description of Duties & Tasks
Develop curriculum in the field of unmanned vehicles to include courses associated with basic and advanced systems of unmanned aircraft, ground vehicles and marine craft with an intent to build both a certificate and degree program.
Research and recommend appropriate equipment needs for purchase relative to air, ground and marine craft vehicles and ancillary gear.
Participate in online forums, seminars and conferences related to FAA-CTI program; UAVSI and other college, professional and workforce related organizations.
Organize, prepare and assist instructional staff with all UVSO course materials and learning platforms to ensure professional teaching standards are met and exceeded.
Deliver curriculum via class lecture, lab activity and online platforms that incorporate innovative technologies, software systems, video conferencing, and other innovative online learning methods to workforce and student learners.
Participate in budget development activities related to UVSO program and all prospective UVSO clients.
Ensure all laws and regulations are adhered to by individuals/organizations operating USVO equipment at the PSTC.
Register all drones and maintain proper documentation as required by law and policy.
Maintain all UVSO equipment and supplies and ensure accurate inventory records.
Manage all UVSO contracts with outside entities.
Create and/or review and approve all flight operations at PSTC.
Conduct risk assessments and approve/reject all flight requests by outside entities on PSTC facility.
Develop and deliver professional marketing strategies to expand the UVSO program across multiple disciplines with the college system and into the Central Texas community.
Draft reports and prepare memorandums related to UVSO program.
Manage Day to Day activities related to the UVSO program.
Provide routine updates to PSTC Director regarding project status on all activities, courses and events related to UVSO program.
Participate in various UVSO related professional associations and social media platforms that provide exceptional marketing capabilities toward growing the UVSO program.
Assist in hiring qualified UVSO experts within various workforce industries to assist with teaching UVSO curriculum.
Coordinate with PSTC staff and CE personnel in scheduling of UVSO courses conducted either at the PSTC, online or a mix of both.
Identify potential vendors and industry leaders to continue to expand the UVSO program.
Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, executive vice chancellor.
Serves on college-wide and departmental committees as needed.
Required Work Experience
3 years experience as a Remote Pilot in Command
2 years experience as a Program Manager or equivalent expertise in unmanned vehicle systems operations.
This experience may be concurrent.
Valid FFA Part 107 License

Full-time faculty and staffing table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.
ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty and Administrators Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal law.
