Position Summary::

The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities at the University of Alabama invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education (P-12). The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities (SPEMA) prepares students to serve as reflective decision makers in instructional settings for exceptional learners. A successful candidate will join an active research and teaching faculty as well as a vibrant student community. The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities at the University of Alabama invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education (P-12). The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities (SPEMA) prepares students to serve as reflective decision makers in instructional settings for exceptional learners. A successful candidate will join an active research and teaching faculty as well as a vibrant student community. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position with a contract of two years, eligible for renewal. Renewal of this appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and funding availability. Life in TuscaloosaThe University of Alabama is located in West Alabama and is 45 minutes southwest of Birmingham, Alabama. Tuscaloosa, a quintessential college town with a population of 101,113, has excellent recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities available. The Tuscaloosa area provides hiking, biking, and running trails, as well as playgrounds, parks, and dog parks to enjoy the outdoors. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctoral degree in special education or related field
  • 3 years experience working with children or youth with disabilities and their families
  • Expertise in disabilities
  • Knowledge of curriculum requirements and trends in the discipline
  • A commitment to diversity and excellence in higher education teacher preparation programs
