Job Description:The Department of History at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, time-limited, nine-month, non-tenure-accruing position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2022, in early American history. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in History by August 15, 2022.

The successful candidate will teach five courses during the academic year, and should be able to contribute to the Department of History’s intellectual growth and emphasis on interdisciplinary and collaborative research. We have a preference for candidates whose scholarship and teaching emphasize colonial-Indigenous relations, the African diaspora, Black Atlantic cultures, and the Age of Revolution.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching a diverse body of undergraduate and graduate students in Gainesville, Florida and maintain a strong research and publishing agenda. Teaching responsibilities include upper-division courses in early American history as well as both halves of the United States history survey class. The position will also include service responsibilities appropriate to rank.
