Job Description

Function: To provide advanced skills in coordinating and managing the daily operations and logistics of facility projects, including oversight in the implementation and operation of various projects or activities.

Scope: Responsible for managing/coordinating complex administrative or construction projects or activities; preparing architectural/interior design, mechanical or civil engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with customers and facilitates meetings with customers and professional services to identify needs.

  • Coordinates development of scope of work and prepares preliminary cost estimates for projects.

  • Engages consultants and contractors and manages their performance.

  • Monitors, evaluates, and reports project performance and progress.

  • Coordinates the collection, analysis, and distribution of data.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance and assists in the formulation and writing of new and amended rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Reviews and processes construction related request for information (RFI’s), architect’s supplemental information (ASI’s), cost proposals, change orders, invoices, pay applications and other related project documents.

  • Monitors construction for quality, coordinates punch list and resident’s occupancy data (ROD) corrections and assists Maintenance with warranty issues.

  • Coordinates inspections and the involvement of the University’s SSC trade shops, and departments associated with the project.

  • Collects and archives a complete set of project close out documentation. Maintain the digital drawings, files and specification

  • Assists in the preparation of bid documents for procurement of construction services and the selection of contractors/vendors.

  • Plan and completes special projects, reports, research, and formulations.

  • Investigate, verify and provide solutions that solve issues of ADA accessibility, non-compliance in the campus built environment

  • Uses computer aided design software (Revit-BIM). Uses graphic design and illustration software to develop presentation drawings and diagrams for campus planning.

  • Uses 3D modeling programs to develop planning studies.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Certificate of completion from a trade school grogram emphasizing Revit drafting or related field

  • Four years experience in facilities management, project management, or construction management.

  • Basic computer skills N/A Working Conditions Usual Special Usual office condition

  • Experience with complex systems and processes. Certification as a Project Management Professional as administered by Project Management Institute, or Certified Facility Manager as administered by IFMA

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.

  • Ability to frequently prioritize and re-prioritize activities based on changing needs of projects and management input; attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and understand floor plans.

  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Able to be exposed to weather and physical hazards. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and construction hazards. Supervision Received Given General supervision from immediate supervisor. Provides general supervision to support staff and student workers. Accuracy and Proficiency in all duties performed

  • Must have a valid Texas State Driver's License and a driver rating of "good" as established by the Texas A&M University system.
