Job Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Patient Care Manager and the Medical Director of the Vascular Access Program, the Vascular Access Nurse will be responsible for policy and procedure development, early and appropriate assessment of patients, actual placement of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) lines, peripheral IVs, post insertion management including but not limited to, follow up, problem identification and documentation of complications, product evaluation, supply inventory standardization and process improvement data monitoring.  In addition, the Vascular Access Nurse will be responsible for program evaluation to include monitoring program efficiency and effectiveness through data management, collaboration with the clinical customers, participation on assigned committees and providing educational support to patients, family members and staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Two or more years of recent clinical experience in acute care settings
  • Recent PICC insertion experience within last 6 months in acute care settings
  • Excellent Peripheral IV skills
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California  
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialty Certification related to vascular access
  • BSN
  • Recent experience in Vascular Access Services at large academic facilities
  • Basic ECG interpretation skill
  • Experience with EPIC

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California  
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support
