Market Research AnalystThe Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for the position of Market Research Analyst. The analyst utilizes data gathering tools and audience inputs to provide timely analysis, reporting, and recommendations in support of the university's marketing and communication goals.UT is the state’s flagship research university, a campus of choice for outstanding undergraduates, and a premier graduate institution. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals across several cross-functional teams—Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, Special Events, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
Qualifications
Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe Market Research Analyst collects data and inputs from various sources, synthesizes findings, and provides timely insights. Under the supervision of the marketing director, the analyst will help optimize ongoing campaigns, guide user experiences, improve content strategies, and inform marketing decisions.The analyst collaborates closely with colleagues to establish and track performance metrics for communications and marketing campaigns, monitors performance data on the university's digital platforms, and develops and maintains social listening and media monitoring tools to track online conversations about the university.The market research analyst plans and executes qualitative and quantitative audience research initiatives. The analyst understands the behaviors and perspectives of our audiences and advocates on their behalf.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe ideal candidate is curious and analytical with an ability to interpret the stories behind the data. Required knowledge, skills, and experiences include:
- Knowledge of digital analytics platforms, social and online listening platforms, and data visualization toolsKnowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodsDemonstrated ability to go beyond the “what” and tell the “why” within research resultsExcellent presentation and writing skillsKnowledge of communication and marketing principles, concepts, techniques, and applicationsExcellent time-management, project management, interpersonal, and communication skillsExcellent organization skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to act professionally and represent the office in interactions with stakeholders, including university administratorsAbility to work accurately with strong attention to detail
