Air University's Air War College's Center for Strategy and Technology (CSAT) invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Professor of International Security. CSAT enhances USAF organizations, employment and warfighting through teaching, research, journals, publications, and outreach/engagement projects. A Master's degree in relevant fields related to security studies such as political science, military science, or history, or fields within the physical sciences such as math, engineering, computer science or biochemistry.
Teaches in CSAT Blue Horizons Program related to future strategic and military-technical competitions and their implications for USAF capabilities, basing, personnel and budgets. Oversees the thorough planning and development of curriculum content and structure, instructional methods and materials, and evaluation and testing procedures for those curricula presented. Develops a systematic, prioritized approach for continuing education and professional opportunities on the topic of the interplay of strategy and technology and future conflict to facilitate growth in faculty member's competencies, research and publication outputs, and instructional capabilities. Contributes to faculty development programs on future conflict studies and emerging technological and strategic environments. Shares academic development workload with other personnel assigned to CSAT in order to ensure timely accomplishment of all required projects. Supervises and advises Blue Horizon student research in course work, research projects and masters theses. Provides detailed feedback and other guidance to students and documentation of student progress in the Blue Horizons program.
Conducts complex, scholarly research and analyses supporting CSAT missions; evaluates and presents divergent professional opinions affecting significant national and international defense security issues, and long and short-range studies related to Air Force strategic planning. Responds to requests for research products and support from the CSAF, Headquarters Air Force (HAF), and other Air University colleges and schools; incorporates the results of completed studies into the Air University academic programs through coordination with course directors and department chairs at the 10-month schools.
Engages in professional research and writing in areas of expertise. Actively seeks publication of book manuscripts, as well as scholarly works such as articles, monographs and book reviews for publication in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, professional journals and other outlets or in classified forums. Presents results of research at classified and unclassified level at appropriate conferences, symposia, and to DoD staff and think-tanks as appropriate. Participates with other professional military education schools, professional organizations, AF/DoD institutions, universities and colleges for professional development. Delivers lectures, conducts seminars, facilitates tabletop wargames, participates in panel discussions related to Air University curriculum and in area of expertise at various institutions such as other professional military education schools, civilian institutions, and other learned societies.
Establishes and maintains relationships with academic and professional colleagues internal and external to Air University in the furtherance of the CSAT's mission. Develops and maintains relationships with other Department of Defense organizations, civilian educational institutions, civilian research organizations and commercial concerns interested in partnering with CSAT on aspects of their programs
