Provides instructional services for students and assists them in mastering skills required for teaching/learning success.

Proposed Work Schedule (Please note hours subject to change based on business needs):

  • The schedule for this position will require you to work alternating Sundays and Saturdays 11 am – 7 pm and weekdays 1 pm – 9 pm
  • 40 hours per week flexible with the days off during the week
  • This position may work hybrid, remotely and face to face

Description of Job Function:

1. Assists faculty, staff, and students with technology needs (i.e., Valencia student portal, on-line course delivery system, on-line tutoring, class-specific software and hardware) in assigned areas and computer labs.

2. Schedules and provides direction to Staff computer lab and technology staff, as well as student assistants.

3. Responsible for technical training and support of faculty, staff, and students related to classroom support technologies, distance learning, and other identified technology issues. Develops and maintains technology based workshops.

4. Assists in evaluating software programs and online resources suitable for faculty/staff training. Researches suitability of resources of related computer and LAN needs.

5. Maintains computer lab equipment and software. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots software and other related equipment. Makes minor repairs and arranges for equipment maintenance.

6. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the local area network, computer hardware, peripheral devices, and other related equipment within assigned area(s).

7. Submits purchase order forms for the acquisition of computer software, audio-visual aids and other materials essential for the tutorial and individualized study programs.

8. Participates in the security and management of inventory, computers, installation and removal of equipment, cabling of computers, network devices, and other related equipment in the computer labs. Maintains a current listing of supplies, materials and equipment available for computer laboratories.

10. Works collaboratively with the campus Office of Information Technology in determining staff’s support needs to provide seamless technology support.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Preferred Education & Field of Study:

Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or specialized training related to instructional technologies or related field.

Preferred Type of Experience:

Progressively responsible experience in a computer environment in an educational setting.

Experience in working with and developing computer applications (i.e. word processing, presentation programs, spreadsheets).

Experience in web page design.

Supervisory Experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems (i.e., networking systems, LAN management) that would be used in a learning support environment.

Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to work with others in a team environment and provide direction and guidance to employees and students.

Ability to effectively oversee and support computer lab and technology operations in multiple locations across the campus.

Ability to prepare and present group and individualized training on related technologies.

Ability to instruct and communicate with individuals with diverse learning styles.

Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair software and hardware components.

Ability to create and/or maintain related websites, servers, and applications.

Ability to apply problem solving techniques and time management effectively.

General Working Conditions:

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
