Stanford Medicine, which comprises Stanford University School of Medicine, a premier research-intensive medical school; and Stanford Health Care, nationally recognized for quality patient care and leading-edge technology - seeks a creative and innovative Director of Volunteer Strategy to be part of the volunteer engagement team in Medical Center Development (MCD). MCD supports hope and healing close to home and around the world by building long term relationships with donors to maximize philanthropic investments in Stanford Medicine for innovation in teaching, research and care. With Stanford's donor-centric approach to development, every staff member within MCD plays a role in providing the university's donors with the service and attention that ensures an exceptionally positive and fulfilling philanthropic experience.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being part of a collaborative team. You will work with frontline fundraising staff, internal partner teams, and other university staff to support the most rewarding and engaging experience for Stanford Medicine's philanthropic volunteers. You will also exhibit patience, flexibility, sharp attention to detail, a high level of professionalism, a strong sense of priorities, and a superb level of tact and discretion.

Position summary and purpose: The Program Manager will assist in developing robust plans for a volunteer structure to shape MCD's most important volunteer plans through the next university-wide comprehensive fundraising endeavor and beyond. You will assist in crafting engaging and strategic meetings from scheduling to flawless execution and considered follow-up with a view to recognizing and leveraging volunteers as essential partners to maximizing success. The Program Manager will also serve as a staff member of the Office of the Associate Vice President, creating briefings and doing research and analysis on behalf of the AVP.

Your responsibilities include*:
  • Project management support for meetings of the Stanford Medicine Cabinet: deadline/deliverable management, sending communications and tracking RSVPs, location and logistics coordination, meeting materials/presentations creation, and day-of meeting execution
  • Assist in the planning and execution of bespoke events for high-level volunteers to drive forward key fundraising objective, including list development and data management
  • Coordinate with colleagues both at MCD and in the larger Office of Development on meeting content
  • Closely collaborate with colleagues on other teams on executing Frontiers in Medicine, Medical Center Development's marquee annual event
  • This team member will engage with a multitude of individuals, including faculty, university officers and staff, volunteers, donors, alumni, non-alumni and friends and others outside Stanford during the course of their work.
  • As needed and when feasible in relation to other duties, provide project support for the Associate Vice President in terms of briefings, research and analysis, drafting communications etc.
  • Overseeing budget and monitoring and approving expenditures related to meetings.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated record in building strong relationships across diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Ability to remain calm and flexible in the face of multiple priorities, shifting circumstances and the demands of servicing a large client base
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Superb level of tact and discretion


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
