Job Description

Position Summary

This position is located at the Henderson (HND) Testing Center, and is a front line/student first position. They will be working with CSN Students along with Las Vegas Valley community candidates, including GED, CLEP, and Other Institutional Proctored exams. Primary day to day functions will be to assist students/candidates and work with CSN instructors and Faculty.

These duties will include, but not limited to the following:
  • This position will report to the Testing Center and the Student Affairs Assessment.
  • Administer placement testing, make-up exams, proctor exams, credit-by-exams, high stake license exams and GED.
  • Assist with Assessment duties as assigned.
  • Maintain daily records of test counts and revenue receipts.
  • Process paperwork for invoices, inter-departmental forms and purchase orders.
  • Perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; and budget monitoring. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
  • This position requires reliable and consistent attendance.


Candidates for this position should have a commitment to the Community College mission, and ability to assist within a Multi-Campus institution and be available to assist students/staff/faculty at any of the CSN locations as needed, experience with serving clients of all backgrounds in a high paced, highly efficient, and professional environment, and with a preference in a bilingual candidate (English and Spanish).

Although current standard office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, this position may also be required to work evenings hours, 9:30 am - 6:30 pm/10:00 am - 7:00 pm/ 10:30 am - 7:30 pm, as needed to assist with student traffic trends.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some College-AA Degree
  • GED Administration Certification
  • 3-8 years of Higher Education or Customer Service
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word/Teams


Starting Salary

Grade 25, Step 1 - $33,971.76

Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
