The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure track position in sport management at the assistant/associate professor level for the College of Health Sciences.

 

Specific Job Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in principles of sport management; sport governance; sport finance; sport facilities and event management; and sport promotions and marketing. Teach graduate courses in sport facilities and event management; and/or sport sales and marketing. Supervise undergraduate student interns. Advise undergraduate students. Participate in community department, college, and university-wide committees. Maintain an active research agenda.

Teaching Load:

 

  •  The normal teaching load is 12 hours per semester consisting of undergraduate and graduate courses, and includes the supervision of interns.

     

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk. 

     

 

Required Qualifications/Education

 

  • An earned terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in sport management or a closely related area of study is required Candidates nearing completion (conferred within 1 year of appointment) of the required terminal degree (ABD status) will be considered.
