You will be joining the Data & Performance Team at the Haas School of Business. The Data & Performance Team is responsible for supporting all of the custom applications and integrations for the Business School. These applications and integrations are primarily written in C# and Javascript.

This position has the flexibility to be up to 100% remote.

Responsibilities

Plans, designs, develop, modify, debugs, deploys and evaluates complex software for functional areas. Analyzes existing software or works to formulate logic for new complex systems and devises complex algorithms. Performs complex data analysis and tests / debugs complex software. Analyzes the design and use of complex data sources. Applies moderately complex programming security practices.
  • These custom applications will be used to automate and support the program offices day to day operations.

The custom APIs built will be used to support integration work with third party applications.
  • Negotiates, develops and executes moderately complex test plans. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Trains users in conversion and implementation of system. Performs complex data modeling, performance and integration testing and builds interfaces for a variety of internal and external constituents. Monitors and employs source code control techniques and configuration management.
  • Build extensible APIs that can be consumed by other third party services.

Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for approval of system and programming documentation. Recommends and implements changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Negotiates with stakeholders on the creation of software specifications. Ensures project reports are made.
  • Interface with leaders of program offices, HR and Dean Suite to collect system requirements.

Understands and applies industry practices, community standards and department policies and procedures relating to work assignments. Interacts with senior level internal personnel. May serve as technical lead for a software development project of moderate scope. Trains users in conversion and implementation of systems. Negotiates project plans with stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • Intermediate knowledge of secure software development.
  • Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts. In depth knowledge of C#, Javascript and SQL languages.
  • Solid understanding of functional needs and how systems can support those needs.
  • Develops conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Demonstrates solid effective communication and interpersonal skills with collegues, internal and external, as well as solid communication while interfacing with management on a regular basis.
  • Thorough experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
  • Demonstrated software repository skills. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Thorough experience with common programming tools. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.
  • Can easily communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works both independently and as part of a team, while working effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated broad problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Contributes technical narrative to grant proposals.
  • Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies is a nice to have: Python, R, SAS, Relational Databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL), Tensorflow, Keras, data lake analytics tools, machine learning, or AI.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience within the range of $85,350.00 - $115,000.00.

Other Information

This position is flexible to work up to 100% remote with the flexibility to travel to the UC Berkeley Campus as needed and with advanced notice.
