Subject to Grant Funding?:No Essential Job Functions:1. Opens clogged drains with plumber's snake or vacuum plunger to ensure proper operations of NSU facilites.

2. Repairs and maintains piping systems and plumbing fixtures to ensure proper operations of NSU facilities.

3. Supervises the Mechanic Helper to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner.

4. Repairs or replaces damaged plumbing fixtures to ensure quality construction.

5. Provides leadership to the Mechanic Helper to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner.

6. Estimates materials needed and records time and material expended on each work order.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements:

1. Available on call 24/7 for University emergencies.

2. Participates in the on call rotation.

9. Must possess knowledge and technical skills required for the repair and maintenance of plumbing, irrigation systems and general maintenance.

10. Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.

2. Must be able to safely lift 85 lbs.

3. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to pipes, wiring and equipment.

4. Handles a variety of hand and power tools.

5. Near-visual acuity needed to read equipment diagrams and inspect parts.

6. Depth perception, field of vision and color vision needed in fitting and installing parts.

7. Exposed to wet and very hot conditions.

8. Exposed to noise and vibration from operating machinery.

9. Must be able to lift any trade tools, material and equipment.

10. Must be able to reach overhead.

11. May be required to work in confined areas to access equipment.

12. May stand on and in wet areas to clean clogged lines, leaking lines and fixtures.

13. Subject to odors and gases when working with clogged fixtures or pipelines.
Job Requirements: Required Certifications/Licensures:1. Broward County (active) Plumbing Journeyman License/Certificate

2. Have and maintain a valid Florida Driver License with no more than three (3) points.Required Education:High School Diploma or EquivalentMajor (if required): Required Experience:1. Plumbers' apprenticeship or equivalent on the job training
