he Department of Health Systems and Population Health is seeking a 50% FTE Graphic Designer to be based at the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP). Reporting to the E-Learning Manager, the Graphic Designer works closely with instructional designers, production specialists, and clients to design and develop training content for public health practitioners in the Northwest region. The duties of this role include, but are not limited to, developing mood boards, mock-ups, and graphics for online courses and other training materials; providing visual storyboards and graphics for online interactive activities and videos; providing graphic design expertise to the NWCPHP as a whole to help enhance our web presence and promotional efforts; and ensuring that all materials they produce meet the standards of accessibility.

This position requires strong graphic design skills, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables and timelines. To be successful in this role, the Graphic Designer should be able to create accessible visual concepts to communicate ideas that captivate and educate learners while satisfying the needs of the clients.

The Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP) provides training, research, and evaluation services to public health organizations. This position leads the Evaluation Team comprised of staff and students, and provides the primary leadership for evaluation activities across NWCPHP, including the design and conduct of program evaluations, training needs assessments, and evaluations of drills and exercises that support workforce development and evidence-based public health practice.

Responsibilities:

Under limited direction, work directly with clients to provide guidance and direction around NWCPHP training content. Listen to client needs to design online courses and other training materials that are functional, intuitive, accurate, and accessible. This includes designing graphics, interactive exercises, animations, and videos.

Design promotional materials, infographics, templates, websites, social media posts, and branding for to meet the visual communication needs of NWCPHP and projects that arerun through the Center

Appraise and improve slides for both online and in-person presentations, create or apply existing templates, make enhancements to the layout to improve understanding of content, and create or add graphics, assure meets accessibility standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art/Graphic Design or related field
  • At least Two years of experience including one year of experience in graphic or UX/UI design and one year of experience developing both print-based and online materials
  • Experience with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience using Adobe XD
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of personalities effectively
  • Excellent communication skills

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience using Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects

    Working Environmental Conditions:

    This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement, which may include an ongoing, regular remote work arrangement in addition to reporting onsite. The University’s Seattle campus will remain the official work location. All telework and hybrid working arrangements will be reviewed by the Center and subject to University, School of Public Health and Department of Health Systems & Population Health policies.
