Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility dedicated to providing specialized care for a broad spectrum of patients from throughout the Pacific Northwest, including the most vulnerable residents of King County.

As the only designated Level I adult and pediatric trauma and verified burn center in the state of Washington, Harborview serves as the regional trauma and burn referral center for Alaska, Montana and Idaho and the disaster preparedness and disaster control hospital for Seattle and King County.

Harborview Medical Center is owned by King County, governed by a county-appointed board of trustees and managed under contract by the University of Washington. The medical center plans and coordinates with Public Health Seattle and King County, other County agencies, community providers, and area hospitals, to provide programs and services.

Advanced diagnostic imaging, specialized clinical expertise
Radiology Services at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography). Many modalities have same-day and next-day availability.

All of UW Medicine’s radiologists are board-certified and sub-specialized in a variety of areas such as neuroradiology, body radiology, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, chest radiology and more. Imaging findings are integrated with all clinical data to generate comprehensive and actionable patient assessments.

Harborview Medical Center – Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a TEMPORARY/HOURLY, DAY shift RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST, CT. Under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor, Lead Technologist, Radiologist, or other Physician, these roles will perform skilled radiographic procedures that assist in the diagnosis or treatment of patients. Additionally, this role will provide the appropriate education to patients and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure and exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care.

Competitive candidates will participate in the Department QA and QC functions by assisting in the collection of data, and making recommendations as to problems and possible solutions and assist in the orientation of new staff, technologist, researchers, and students to the Radiology.

Standards of Daily Practice:
- Independently perform at a professional level highly complex Computed Tomographic examinations. Provide diagnostic observations to attending Radiologist.
- Perform clinical and research Computed Tomography examinations, monitor patient vital sign and condition during examinations and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if necessary.
- Review patient medical history present on exam requests and consult with physician as necessary.
- Prepare patient for examination; counsel patient regarding safety factors and risks of examination.
- Provide localization parameters for highly complex Neurosurgical procedures.
- Coordinate the administration of sedation to patients when necessary; under the direction of a physician, administers contrast media.
- Maintain information flow about patients and study results; work with physicians in designing study parameters for each examination; participate in formal training programs for residents, fellows and student Computed Imaging Technologists.
- Is able to operate the following equipment/systems: Computed Tomography equipment, CT workstations, PACS, the hospital information system, and the Radiology Information System. Able to pull and retrieve images. Can implement downtime procedures as needed.
- Reviews and QC's own work and work of other technologist and students.
- Performs all the duties in the Imaging Technologist position description, working in Trauma, Surgery, and Main sections in Radiology Department.
- Provides Radiation Protection prescribed by safety standards for patients and self.

- Maintain adequate computer and/or written records using the Radiology Information System.
- Update continuing education, teaching, and research materials.
- Assist in evaluating new products and equipment; perform calibration tests, adjust and maintain all equipment.
- Maintain inventory of supplies to be ordered and submit order requests to Supervisor.
- Will be required to work on-call.

This position involves working with patients from the following age groups:
• Neonate, 1-28 days
• Pre-teen to teen, 10-16 years
• Infant, 29 days - 1 year
• Adult, 15-65 years
• Toddler, 2-4 years
• Geriatric, 65 years and above
• Child, 5-9 years

REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA approved school, registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
OR
- equivalent education/experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.

DESIRED:
- Completion of a 3 month formal clinical/didactic training program in the applicable modality AND 6 months as a Registered Technologist
OR
- 1 year as a Registered Technologist AND completion of advanced course work in the applicable modality.
