 Academic Program ManagerThe University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s (UTK) office of Online Learning and Academic Programs (OLAP) invites applications for an Academic Program Manager, supporting the university’s growth of fully-online coursework and academic programs.  This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position. 

Position Summary   

This position directly supports the growth of online degree programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, through managing the various steps and processes related to the development and launch of fully-online degrees and certificates. This position directly interfaces with academic units and other internal departments to ensure the timely execution of key projects, while also forecasting future needs for course development and scheduling through monitoring institutional trends in student enrollment. 



Qualifications
Position Summary 

This position directly supports the growth of online degree programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, through managing the various steps and processes related to the development and launch of fully-online degrees and certificates. This position directly interfaces with academic units and other internal departments to ensure the timely execution of key projects, while also forecasting future needs for course development and scheduling through monitoring institutional trends in student enrollment. 

Job Duties

Manages the development, launch, and growth of fully-online academic programs and courses. Partners with respective academic department and office of Online Learning & Academic Programs team members to: map curricular requirements of programs; maintain project timelines related to academic approvals and course development by instructional design team; monitor schedule of classes for appropriate course opportunities; ensure new programs are established to market and accept applicants.

Assists leadership, college and departmental administration, and other university partners (undergraduate admissions, graduate admissions, registrar’s office) throughout program proposal and plan development processes; Coordinates with academic departments and OLAP to ensure consistent communication regarding current and future projects related to program and course development.

Supports online student degree progression through forecasting/projecting necessary seats required for key courses assuming various year-over-year growth scenarios; Monitor in-progress enrollment to evaluate necessary adjustments; Partner with academic departments to ensure appropriate seats are reserved for distance education students.

Makes data requests through Institutional Research to support strategic decision making; Creates high level reports to monitor program and course enrollment to track year-over-year progress; Supports key data initiatives related to online programs; Compiles reports and findings for senior leadership.

Required Skills

*Ability to leverage data for strategic decision making; develop basic analyses based on historical trends

*Knowledge of basic curriculum processes

*Ability to organize information and data into discernible outputs

*Ability to create flowcharts/project steps that communicate necessary processes for multiple audiences

Required Experience   

Bachelor’s Degree, and two years’ experience with managing projects in an education or business setting

Preferred Experience

Two years working in a university setting

Understanding of curriculum process

Salary 

Expected salary range: $46,000-$52,000 per year.

This position allows for primarily remote work, though occasional presence for in-person events and meetings may be required. An on-campus office may be provided for a candidate who prefers to work on campus.
