Communications Director – UT Center for Transportation Research

Regular, Full-time, Market Range 10

The Center for Transportation Research (CTR) conducts transportation research, education, and engagement in a broad number of areas, including transportation policy and planning, infrastructure engineering, connected and automated vehicles, and safety. These activities are carried out through relationships with University faculty, government agencies, non-profits, and private industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

CTR seeks a Communications Director that will develop an overarching communication strategy for CTR including digital, social, and print formats to create a cohesive story that promotes the organization and its programs. Collaborates with CTR’s Leadership team to set marketing and communication priorities and objectives.

Responsible for the creation and development of marketing strategies that include the schedule and budget development for email marketing and automation, website maintenance and development, content or copy creation/editing, press releases, presentation development, and a strong social media presence across leading platforms.

Assists with brainstorming ideas, suggests appropriate technology to complete marketing tasks, run the analysis on campaigns, and measure the progress of marketing strategies. Collects data and refines research techniques to improve marketing performance in future endeavors.



Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in a communications-related field with 2+ years of experience managing communications.Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including the ability to present concepts verbally and visually.Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social/print media.Knowledge of using digital analytics platforms like Google AnalyticsKnowledge of email marketing best practices and experience using an email marketing platform like Emma, MailChimp, or Campaign Monitor. Advanced skill and experience using social media marketing tools like Facebook Business Manager, Instagram, Hootsuite and/or various other digital marketing platforms.Advanced skill and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud; particularly with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

    5+ years of marketing/advertising experience in a team leadership role.Higher education experience in communications, marketing, or digital advertising.Supervisory experience.
