Job Summary
Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique to inpatient or ambulatory patient services (for those AHPs providing services in the ambulatory environment) this Physician Assistant (PA) position is assigned to. This AHP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”.  In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, specialty protocols (e.g. chemotherapy), routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office website. The CIDP approved standardized procedures are unique to each person and unlikely to include all SPs on the list.  This position may provide outpatient care in approved age groups at UCSF Health licensed settings.  The AHP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations.  UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role.  This applies to adult AHPs in the outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al).  Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.

Required Qualifications
    Minimum of five (5) years recent Physician Assistant Experience Minimum of  two (2) years of recent oncology experience with demonstrated clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in oncology care, including chemotherapy plans, patient education, and care coordination Possesses the skills, knowledge, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position Must be able to document competent performance of the skills required to perform in the role described Excellent verbal and written communication, professional, computer and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/ functions Demonstrated excellence in the following areas:  clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, leadership/problem identification/resolution, and teaching Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid tumor experience
  • Experience working with Clinical Trial Protocols
  • Experience working in an Academic Medical Center

  • Must hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA)
  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position
  • Must hold current national board certification by first day of work and maintain
  • Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer)
  • Must have completed an APA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant
  • Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day
  • Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
  • ACLS
