The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University seeks a motivated, results-oriented Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist who enjoys the complexities of SEO and understands the role IT/Marketing and Communications play in increasing search visibility for university websites, to join the Information Technology department in Daytona Beach, Florida or in a teleworking arrangement.

A qualified candidate is experienced in technical, local, on- and off-page SEO. They will routinely track and monitor performance, recommend optimization strategies, and identify and implement changes to improve SEO reach, rankings and click-through. The SEO specialist will act as the university’s expert on search engine optimization, ensuring that a proper SEO strategy is created, implemented and managed to improve SEO performance.

The SEO Specialist is part of the Information Technology Web Strategy team and reports to the Director of Web Optimization and Analytics. They will work with colleagues campus-wide, including Web Strategy, Information Technology and Enrollment Management, to identify and implement techniques that expand reach, capture target audiences and encourage conversions.

  • Conduct full SEO audits, including consistent monitoring and analysis of website and content performance, through various tools such as SEMrush, SiteImprove, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Perform SEO research, identify trends and opportunities. Develop and implement short and long-term SEO strategies that align with KPIs and university priorities. This includes but is not limited to keyword research, content planning and development, redirects, core web vitals, competitor analysis, SERP analysis, voice search and more.
  • Collaborate with enrollment management, information technology and web strategy teams to execute SEO changes and enhancements to websites.
  • Test and monitor performance of newly implemented SEO strategies.
  • Monitor and report out on dashboards, reports and SEO metrics in relation to overarching SEO strategy.
  • Educate and train both technical and non-technical colleagues on SEO best practices.
  • Stay abreast of algorithm updates, trends, best practices and internal technology releases that impact SEO. Provide relevant updates to the team.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience.
  • Familiarity with SEO practices, including keyword research, link building, schema markup and site analysis.
  • Familiarity with basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other programming languages as they relate to SEO.
  • Experience with content management systems (Sitecore, etc.).
  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and deal with ambiguity and incomplete information.
  • Excellent communicator and self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively in groups.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues, insights and recommendations clearly and effectively.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to support IT Core Values by focusing on improvements, believing in our team, learning from mistakes, being accountable for actions and showing determination, focus and tenacity.
  • Proficient in SEMrush, Google Search Console and Google PageSpeed Insights preferred.
  • Experience with Sitecore CMS, Siteimprove and Google Analytics preferred.
