Summary

The Assistant/ Associate Director of Athletics is responsible for the management of designated sport programs, compliance program,

serves as Compliance Officer and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership to designated sports. Facilitate and participate in hiring and onboarding process for coaches and staff, including volunteer coaches. Review athletic scholarships and summer financial aid request with all head coaches.

  • Provide leadership and direct oversight to the Coordinator of Compliance. Oversee athletic support services as it relates to housing, conduct, and financial aid. Develop programming, training, and education as it relates to mental health, social justice, professional development, leadership, etc. for all student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

  • Hold the Senior Woman Administrator designation. Represent the University and Department at NCAA and Sunshine State Conference meetings. Participation on several University Committees and volunteer service on NCAA committees.

  • Member of athletic department leadership team. Establish, review, administer, and enforce departmental policies and procedures. Prepare federal, departmental, institutional, SSC, and NCAA reports; Revenue and Expense Report, EADA, etc.

  • Serve as game administrator for home competitions. Hosting and travel responsibilities for NCAA Championships.

  • Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Oversight & leadership of the Barry Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

  • Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education/Sports Management/MBA preferred.

  • 1-3 years of work-related experience.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • General Knowledge to identify, scrutinize, improve, and streamline work processes, rules interpretation and problem solving skills.

  • Comfortable with executing paperwork for projects and departmental planning.

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, CAI knowledge, NCAA Reports.

  • Departmental Correspondence, reports, educational documents.

  • Proficient in all Office Equipment & game management oversight.

  • Adept at Written and Oral Communication, rules education, presentations, committee work.

  • Membership on the QIP Committee, Barry Community Fest, Wellness Initiative Network, Student-athlete participation in Earth Day, Miami Shores Celebration.

  • Volunteer service on Conference and NCAA Committees.

  • National Girls and Women in Sports Day
