Job Purpose:Most production systems that support Calbright students and staff are cloud-hosted. We need strong technical expertise to help implement, manage, monitor and

troubleshoot a variety of vendor and custom-developed solutions in the cloud. This will entail a good mix of systems engineering, systems administration, and some networking expertise.

Location:Remote, various locations throughout California


Position Overview


In this role, you will be responsible for administering, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting a variety of cloud services, including but not limited to AWS, Azure, GCP, as well as cloud hosted information systems such as Salesforce, ERP/SIS, Microsoft Dynamics and cloud provided identity and access management systems such as GSuite and Azure AD. When our team considers possible solutions to a given problem, you will contribute ideas and recommendations to the discussion based on a combination of your understanding of the unique aspects of our organization and its needs with your past professional experience with different approaches and solutions within Calbright College’s cloud ecosystem.


Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are required to isolate problems, recommend solutions and implement solutions. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed within the scope of work. The primary responsibility of the Cloud Systems Administrator is to plan, design and assist with the implementation of cloud services for the organization.


  • Administer Calbright’s Salesforce instance and troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise.
  • Administer and provide technical expertise regarding the college’s AWS instance, and make recommendations regarding improvements, and best practices for effective use of the platform.
  • Create and maintain data visualization and reporting interfaces in a variety of platforms to support data-driven decision making processes.
  • Install, configure, and integrate cloud systems as needed to support the goals of the organization.
  • Be the go-to person to troubleshoot, resolve, and provide any necessary technical assistance regarding cloud system problems.
  • Review the configuration and network security of cloud systems to make sure that they are working correctly and they are up-to-date.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Ability to develop and implement cloud solutions across a diverse range of projects, which can include application development, systems integrations, identify/access management, network, and data management.
  • Deep understanding and professional experience with virtualization, software-defined networking, network organizations, physical and virtual storage, data center networking, backup solutions, disaster recovery, and commercial continuity software systems.
  • Work in coordination with other departments to implement changes in architecture.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical, cross-functional organizational teams in both spoken and written form.
  • Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, staff and faculty.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training required
  • Minimum of three years professional experience managing and administering cloud solutions within one of one of these: AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, GCP (Google Cloud Compute).
  • Minimum of three years professional experience managing and administering Salesforce.
  • At least 5 years of total experience as a Systems Administrator or Engineer.

  • Certifications in one more or more of these:
    • Salesforce Certified Administrator
    • Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator
    • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
    • Google Associate Cloud Engineer
    • MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (Associate)
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
    • Google Professional Cloud Architect
    • Additional Salesforce Platform Developer certifications a plus
    • “Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder” credential
  • Experience working with WordPress
  • Experience working with external system integrations
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including working within the scrum framework.
  • Higher education experience is a plus


Working Conditions and Travel


  • Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to use hearing and speech to make presentations to groups and carry on conversations over the phone and in-person. Requires speaking skills to communicate with staff and students in one-on-one and small group settings, on the phone, and to distinguish sound prompts from various types of equipment. Requires near visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens. Requires sufficient hand/arm/finger dexterity to retrieve work materials, operate a personal computer keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
