Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) seeks an experienced social media expert to serve as the university's Social Media Coordinator (Strategic Communications Consultant). The Social Media Coordinator will lead the development, monitoring and evaluation of social media channels and develop campaigns to drive enrollment growth, expand the university's national visibility, and build Missouri S&T's reputation as a leading national research university. The Social Media Coordinator reports to the Director of Digital Marketing as part of the Marketing and Communications team.

The Social Media Coordinator will join a highly collaborative, cross-functional team that includes graphic and UX/UI designers, public relations writers, photographers and videographers, and executive-level communications functions and will be expected to develop integrated social media campaigns. This includes developing and overseeing social media campaigns and schedules involving paid and organic social media.

The Social Media Coordinator will also be responsible for social media research, data analytics, and monitoring trends. In short, the Social Media Coordinator must be both a creative visionary and a person who has a passion for social media and digital marketing.

Supervision Received

This position reports directly to the Director of Digital Marketing.

Supervision Exercised

This position may serve as an informal resource or mentor for student employees or less experienced staff.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in marketing or a related field is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications or a related field is preferred
  • Expert skills on social media channels including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok
  • Familiarity with social media best practices
  • Ability to write and generate content
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently and meet deadlines
