Minimum Education:
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Three or more years of experience in recognized trade required.
- Certification from accredited HVAC Technical School.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
- EPA Freon Certificate
Valid Florida Driver’s License required or, as a condition of continued employment, a Valid Florida Driver’s License within 30 days after beginning employed by the College.
Essential Functions:
- Daily -40%: Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilating, air conditioning equipment and systems.
- Daily -20%: Operates a variety of equipment as needed to perform work.
- Daily -5%: Installs, maintains and repairs computerized Direct Digital, pneumatic devices related to HVAC control.
- Daily -5%: Operates various measuring and testing equipment.
- Other, As Needed -5%: Maintains electronic and pneumatic testing equipment.
- Bi-Weekly -10%: Communicates and works with vendors to arrange service for warranted parts, select appropriate replacement parts and troubleshoot problems.
- Other, As Needed -5%: Reads blueprints, piping and wiring diagrams.
- Other, As Needed -5%: Performs brazing, soldering, pipefitting and welding.
- Monthly -5%: Responsible for inventory of supplies and control storage of materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of A/C systems, controls, pneumatic electric and electronic controls, A/C motors, and pumps
- May train other non-skilled or semi-skilled staff within the trade
- Ability to recognize needs of unit and own responsibility
- Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff within grounds and maintenance
- Proficient skills in one or more trades
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle is required
- The ability to prepare correspondence and reports relating to day to day activities
