General SummaryThis position relates directly to new student outreach with emphasis on the recruitment and matriculation of high school and community college students to Illinois State University. Incumbent primarily focuses on an assigned recruitment territory in the Chicagoland area, though recruitment events will occur on-campus in Normal, and may include locations across the state of Illinois, and/or out-of-state. The position performs extensive student follow up, representing the university at recruitment events such as high school visits, college fairs, parent nights as well as some outreach to Community Based Organizations (CBO). Daily travel, presentations in English and Spanish, and evening and weekend work is expected.
Additional InformationThis regional position will be located in the greater Chicagoland area and is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of new students to Illinois State University. This position represents the university at on and off campus events (high school visits, college fairs, Open Houses, etc.), serves as the main point of contact for school counselors and manages individual communication/outreach with students and families in their recruitment territory. Counselors regularly meet one on one with students and families to assist with the admission and enrollment process for Illinois State. This position is often the first point of contact for families as students begin their college search. Our ability to individually connect with high-achieving and diverse students is vital to reaching the University’s enrollment goals. This position requires the ability to speak conversationally, write and present in Spanish to prospective students and families.
Required Qualifications1. Bachelor's degree
2. Valid driver's license
3. This position is work from home and the staff member must be regionally located in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, or Will County residency required.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
5. Good organizational skills
6. Ability to and interest in extensive travel
7. Basic computer skills for word processing, scheduling, and e-mail
8. Fluent in Spanish
1. Experience with Technolutions Slate CRM
2. Experience giving public presentations
8am-4:30pm, Evening and weekend work is expected, including early morning and late night driving.
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Ability to use a computer in day-to-day work (i.e. type on a keyboard and use a mouse).
3. Ability to lift 30 lb. and transport recruiting/outreach materials for presentations/visits.
4. Ability to conduct or attend meetings in various campus and non-campus locations.
