Responsibilities The incumbent of this position with support from Senior Biomedical Engineering Technicians: Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical/dental equipment, instrumentation, and support systems used in dental healthcare delivery. Inspect, install, and perform inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical/dental equipment. Train dental providers, faculty, residents, students, and staff in the operation of the equipment in DCG facilities. The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Supports patient diagnosis and treatment by installing, testing, calibrating and repairing biomedical equipment; training users; maintaining safe operations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.
  • Provides equipment operation demonstrations, instructing other healthcare staff in use and care of equipment and answering questions.
  • Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating and testing performance.
  • All other related job duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization with a minimum of three years' experience in electronic or applicable mechanical maintenance related trade.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in electronic technology.Preferred Qualifications Technical school training in biomedical equipment technology/related field (electronics, pneumatics, telecommunications, etc). CBET (Certification-Biomedical Equipment Technician). Experience with AU standards and regulations. Previous medical or dental experience.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation
  • Repair and maintenance; the application and repair of computers and how they interface with medicaVdental equipment; current regulatory requirements
  • Basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment; color code conventions used In component and wiring marking.
  • Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and mechnical equipment; perfom, preventive maintenance inspections; run diagnositc programs
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs; calibration, and tests
  • Skill in testing electronic equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentialityDetail-orientedExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
