ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Bulls Undergraduate Learning & Leadership Scholars Program ("B.U.L.L. Scholars") is an initiative housed in Undergraduate Studies under the director of the Assistant Dean for Academic Inclusion. The B.U.L.L. Scholars program is focused on developing students as adult learners and leaders, providing a supportive transition and student experience at USF, developing a growth mindset for personal, academic, and career development, and facilitating opportunities for community and alumni engagement.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of the Academic Success Coach is to help students develop skills, behaviors and mindsets that address key impediments to academic performance and contribute to success in college. These include academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, and self-efficacy. The Academic Success Coach provide sessions to students via individualized, private meetings, and help students to attain a sense of balance and holistic wellness as an undergraduate student. The Academic Success Coach also develops, organizes, and delivers programs and services to enhance and support student life and the university experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides one-on-one coaching sessions to students who seek guidance on living out a holistically well-balanced student lifestyle, including addressing barriers to their academic success.
  • Completes all administrative responsibilities associated with caseload of coaching students, including maintaining case notes, preparing reports, or communicating with students.
  • Develops resources that will support academic performance and student success, such as social media campaigns, websites, videos, and other instructional and educational materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling or academic field directly related to the Advisor's specific responsibilities with a minimum of one year of experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or a field of study related to the academic program. Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in facilitating the coaching process, client evaluation and referrals, models of behavior change and/or coaching certification are desirable.
