Department

The Florida State University Division of Student Affairs department provides programs and services to enhance the quality of life for students during matriculation at the university. The department focuses on the areas of personal growth and development, health and wellness, diversity, student leadership, campus entertainment, house and childcare.

The Business Manager position will manage the daily business, human resources, and administrative operations for the following departments: Student Support & Transitions, Student Conduct & Community Standards, Office of Accessibility Services, and Title IX and also serve as the human resource coordinator for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (OVPSA) and the Division.

Responsibilities
  • Budget Management - Serves as the budget manager for Department of Student Support and Transitions, Student Conduct and Community Standards and Title IX areas operating budgets & ensures appropriate expenditures of funds allocated to the departments. Responsible for preparing the budgets & managing spending activities for auxiliary, E&G, FSU Foundation, carryforward, & other funding sources allocated to the areas. Budget preparation to include reviewing historical data and trends, reviewing recommendations and budget requests from internal staff and anticipating future needs
  • HR Support - Serves as liaison with central HR to ensure areas comply with procedures and processes. Assists in planning, coordination, & execution of recruiting efforts to meet recruiting priorities & industry trends. Provides support to search committees to ensure consistency in the processes. Ensures consistent on boarding and exit processes per HR procedures
  • Reporting, Planning, & Analysis - Manages & communication the financial position of the departments overseen to stakeholders on a frequent basis. Reconciles all funding sources timely & accurately. Develop reports to communicate budget position along with entering, approving, & preparing budget information and transactions. Conducts analysis of current & long-term needs of the departments. Makes financial recommendations to stakeholders based on data reports & financial needs
  • Finance & Operational Procedures - Oversees the financial & human resource activities of the department. Approves financial transactions & personnel actions. Provides customer services & provide coverage & support regarding purchasing & travel activities, revenue collection, & human resource transactions. Serves as the budget approver in the FSU Foundation system & works closely with opportunity administrators to ensure proper spending activities.
  • Procedures & Internal Controls - Ensures department policies & procedures for Department of Student Support and Transitions, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Title IX and Office of Accessibility areas adhere to University policy. Serves as the liaison between the FSU Foundation, Budget Office, Controller's Office, Procurement, & Facility Departments. Responsible for ensuring a sound internal control environment. Assists in coordinating the Emergency Loan Program. Maintains emergency loan guidelines, budget and expenditures of loan funds.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two years experience or a high school diploma / equivalent and six years of experience (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years in finance, accounting and/or human resources.)
  • Experience with budget management and fiscal activities, including reconciliation and reporting.
  • Experience with human resources administration.
  • Experience with or the ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations, as well as University policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written communications.
  • Experience with prioritizing work and multi-tasking in a detail-oriented environment.

Anticipated Salary Range

$56,500; commensurate with experience
